BMW Welt (BMW World) is the place that promises the Ultimate Driving Experience, with an enormous showroom, museum, factory and restaurants. Ever since Jeff was 15, he has always dreamed of buying an M3. And when the BMW Welt opened a few years ago and offered a Germany delivery program, he became even more excited about the idea.
We were treated like royalty all day long as we enjoyed the drivers' lounge complete with complimentary buffet, playroom, and friendly staff. The ladies who worked in the lounge quickly made friends with Alex and Kieran and showered them with presents as they spoke to them in German. After we picked up Jeff's new toy (Phoenix, pictured above), we drove it around for a few victory laps, then the Welt staff valet parked it while we went on the 2 1/2 hour factory tour (very cool to see robots making cars, but it was a very, very long tour with 2 little kids). We also ate at the restaurant (kids had wienerschnitzel, Jeff had amazing sushi and I had veal cheeks) and enjoyed the hands-on exhibits.
At the end of our big day, Jeff happily claimed, "This day has met and exceeded all expectations." Mission accomplished! Now we just have to drive it back to the UK...
