Dublin - Dublin Zoo

Phoenix Park is, quite possibly, the most enormous park in Europe. Located in this vast park is the Dublin Zoo, which is kind of hard to find, even though it's expansive. We asked a groundskeeper how to get to the Zoo while at the Park entrance, but his Irish accent was so thick that Larissa giggled to Jeff, "Did you understand any of that? Is that really the same language?" It must've been, because we eventually found the Zoo!

Larissa made the critical error of forgetting her rain coat back in the UK, so Jeff bought her a snazzy poncho at the zoo gift shop (a mere 1.50 Euros!). While it was fun to dress up in a giant Ziploc bag, Larissa was eager to ditch the poncho once the sun came out.

We were all impressed with the Dublin Zoo. Alex really enjoyed the enormous dairy cows that moo'ed quite loudly (she spent the rest of the day imitating them). Kieran loved looking at the large Rose Tarantula, which reminded him of his spider shirt (see his shirt in the Abbey Gardens pictures).

After walking our legs off, we took a taxi to St. Stephen's Green (Dublin cab drivers are extremely friendly and eager to chat about their beloved town, we've learned). We stopped off at Butler's Chocolate Cafe, where we got hot chocolates, mochas and other treats. Then Larissa spotted a sale at the Roxy store across the street and bought herself a rain coat for 60% off! Victory!
