We had hoped to visit the London Zoo, but the weather had other ideas. Nothing daunted, we hailed one of London's famous black taxis (Alex and Kieran's preferred method of transportation in the city) and headed off to the Sea Life Aquarium and London Eye. After seeing the Eye in person, the kids decided that perhaps we should wait until next year to ride it, when they were a little older. "Thirty minutes is a really long time to be in a bubble," explained Alex.
The Aquarium was a lot of fun, especially for Kieran, who is currently fascinated by sharks. He calls all sharks, "Bruce" (from "Finding Nemo") and kept trying to find them while we were walking through the Aquarium. The shark tank is a circular pillar situated in the middle of the Aquarium. The pathways lead directly back to the shark tank many times, each time treating the visitor to foreboding music. Kieran informed Larissa, "This music is a clue. You can hear Bruce sleeping. He is telling me where to find him." Alex was not as receptive. "I don't need to come back to the Aquarium next time we come to London. The music is too scary." Don't worry...Alex perked right up when we entered the gift shop.
