Auntie Denise, Auntie Tonya, Alzira and Samantha ("The Wong Ladies") visited London this past week. (They were also accompanied by Uncle Sam and his family, whom we saw occasionally). We had a wonderful time with all of the Aunties and cousins! The Aunties were also kind enough to treat us to yummy eats such as Chinese barbecued pork with rice, Beijing gyoza, beef noodles with egg sauce, and sweet buns. The Wong Ladies were appalled to discover that a cup of Ying Yang (tea and coffee mixed together) costed £2.20. "It's less than 2 Canadian dollars at home!" they wailed. Larissa promptly paid the 2 pounds, as she hadn't had Ying Yang in years. Every sip was pure heaven.
Each day that we stayed at the hotel in London, the Aunties would bring Jeff his tasty Chinese treats and Alex her rice or noodles with soup. Auntie Tonya would faithfully peel mangoes and oranges while Alzira fed them to Kieran, even though Auntie Tonya protested each time. "I do it everyday for Poh Poh at home!" "Just do it, Mom! Kieran loves it!" insisted Alzira. "I tried, but everytime I peel the mango, it all falls apart," explained Jeff. Auntie Tonya would just do her famous, "Hmph!" and peel away.
