The Last Brit-Tan Adventure - A Walk Through Cambridge

Sadly, this is the last entry of the Brit-Tans as they embark on a new adventure to sunny San Diego.  One Friday, Jeff didn't have to work and the children were in school, so we set off to tour some of the beautiful colleges of Cambridge University.  We started at the famous Corpus Clock located at Benet and Trumpington at Kings Parade.  Yes, that is a gigantic grasshopper that helps move the gears along.

We got tickets to visit Kings College Chapel at the bookshop located across the street from the front of the college on Kings Parade.  Then we toured the magnificent chapel and went on a treasure hunt to find the initials of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. 

 Found them!  (This took a long, long time). 

After strolling around the grounds of Kings College, we continued north on Kings Parade to Great St Mary Church.  This is the original home of the Cambridge Quarters, that same little ditty played by Big Ben.  The Great St Mary Church tower has, count them, 123 steps to climb!  Whew!  We took a rest 2/3 of the way up and looked at the bells of the tower.

We pressed onward north on St John's Street to see the famous Bridge of Sighs at St John's College.  After entering through the Tudor gatehouse, we paid a small entry fee and made our way through the grounds.  Our efforts paid off, as the Bridge is beautiful and the landscaping is incredible.  We stumbled upon a gorgeous garden and had the romantic place all to ourselves, as the students were busy cramming for finals. 

Thank you, England!  Thank you, Isleham!  We had a wonderful three years.  Onto San Diego!!!
