The weather cooperated very nicely as we set out for Notre Dame. We marveled at the stained glass windows, archways and organ inside. Outside, we loved checking out the gargoyles. After a walk across Pont Saint Louis and along the Seine, we came to Ile St. Louis. We ate at a little cafe on rue de Deux Ponts and then got some Berthillon ice cream. The Berthillon store was, unfortunately, closed for renovations, but we were lucky enough to find a cafe that had an ice cream counter. Jeff and Larissa favored the caramel au beurre sale (caramel, butter and salt) and the kids loved the chocolat noir (dark chocolate). After we got back to the resort, we went for a ride in a very large balloon (Kieran squealed with glee...Jeff concentrated on not looking down) and then the kids tried ice skating for the first time (Alex really enjoyed it...Kieran found the inability to stand very frustrating).
