Because Jeff had today off, we celebrated by finally trying the food at our village gastropub, The Merry Monk. Yum, yum. Larissa had a steak ciabatta sandwich with mature cheddar and onion marmalade and Jeff ordered the wild mushroom risotto. When Kieran ordered his fish and chips, the server smiled and offered to make the fish into special sticks. Kieran's face lit up, "Yeah!"
After the little man ate most of his lunch, he devoured half of Jeff's sticky toffee coconut pudding with coconut ice cream and a good portion of Larissa's white chocolate, hazelnut and mandarin cheesecake. In between bites of dessert, he would munch on his salad of alfafa sprouts and red clover leaves (one must cleanse one's palate). When the owner came to clear away our plates, he was impressed at Kieran's appetite and remarked, "Good show, young man. May I take these away?" Kieran responded, "I still want this," and took Jeff's spun sugar curl. As he nibbled away, the owner seemed to think that Kieran didn't have any dessert of his own, so he asked, "Would you like some ice cream?" Kieran's eyes got really big and we interjected, "That's ok, he ate most of our puddings. He's fine." Mean parents.
At the end of our meal, Kieran concluded, "That was tasty. We need to take Alex here."
